We will hear from a variety of organisations closely connected to recreational sport and physical activity including community clubs, leagues, organisers. We will seek their experiences and the challenges that they faced but more importantly will be facing in the coming year and beyond for sporting activity. The emphasis will be on how we achieve this unlocking in a fashion that helps to promote new and better sustainable practices within recreational sport. Can technology help improve fixture scheduling and reduce travel? What steps can be taken for running our match days as sustainable events? How do our Sports Clubs attain a carbon balancing? Do Sports Governing Bodies need to do much more to help clubs attain these goals or should the momentum for change come from the grass roots itself?
As always, we will ask the BASIS Community to contribute to the debate and the discussion in a Q&A session.
To mark Earth Day 2021, BASIS collaborates with the Sport Ecology Group to discuss the global impacts of climate change on sport. Speakers expected to include Protect our Winters and a representative of the Jamaican Olympic Committee. Other speakers TBC
