For the better part of 15 years, BASIS has tried to offer everyone working in sport who cares about the environment a community to join.
Through a steady stream of online and in-person events, training and direct support to members, BASIS has grown into a substantial community of practice across sport, which can showcase some of the very best environmental sustainability action anywhere in the world.
In 2025, BASIS will grow our delivery programme to reflect the increasing knowledge, commitment, momentum and action around sustainability in sport.
Our aims and principles as an organisation will proudly remain the same, but our capacity to support the sector with practical and impactful support – and the strength of our advocacy – will increase.
To enhance and add to our core programme, we make 5 key Pledges:
1. To deliver a high-quality events programme, including:
-
- 12-15 Webinars (for all)
- 4-6 Member Visits (members only)
- 2 Day Annual Conference (for all, free to members)
- Sustainable Sport Awards (for all, free to members)
- In-Person AGM (members only)
2. To double the BASIS training programme, offering a minimum of 500 training places across new and existing courses, with a large number free to our members, including:
-
- 20 x Carbon Literacy Sports Toolkit courses
- 3 x Fundamentals of Sustainability for Sports Organisations courses
- 8 x Climate Fresk courses
- 4 x Calculating Emissions courses
- New Self-Paced E-Learning Course
3. To publish ten practical toolkits – free to members – covering the BASIS principles
4. To launch the BASIS Certification Programme, with the following features:
-
- Simple, self-paced, completely online
- Provides a live dashboard for use as your sustainability action tracker and reporting mechanism
- Free to BASIS Members
5. To argue for more Government support for sustainability in sport, by:
-
- Launching the BASIS Advocacy Group
- Identifying parliamentarians who are prepared to campaign for green sport, clean air and clean water.
- To persuade Ministers to publicly recognise and support sport’s sustainability efforts.
Our public programme will kick off with our Nature & Biodiversity in Sport webinar at 2pm on 28 January, with a Travel & Transport session to follow on 12th February.
The rollout of our enhanced training programme will also begin in January, with the first toolkit to be published in February, alongside the first member visit of the year.
Sign up for the Biodiversity & Transport webinars now, with the full programme of events to land in your inboxes before the end of this month.
