Our Second 2023 BASIS Sustainable Sport Awards Judge Feature

Our second judge to feature is David Wheeler, a professional football player for Wycombe Wanderers F.C. and Sustainability Champion for the PFA. Alongside these roles, he is also an ambassador for both Football For Future and Planet League.

David has been at Wycombe since July 2019. He has made 156 appearances for the club, and won promotion to The Championship in 2020.

David’s interest in environmentalism was piqued after watching documentaries like Cowspiracy, What the Health and Before the Flood and, after researching more, he decided to use his platform to try and help make a difference. He feels that football is the most powerful and influential sport with the furthest and broadest reach and has the potential to create the fast-paced change we need to see to protect the planet.
