Sorry, but nominations and entries to the BASIS Sustainable Sport Awards 2025 are now closed and judging is under way. If you’d like to attend the awards, please click below.
The Application Process
Our 2025 Awards ceremony will be held at the iconic All England Lawn Tennis Club – home of the Wimbledon Championships – on November 25th.
We’re looking for inspiring stories of sustainability in sport. We want to know not just what you did, but why it mattered:
- How did your initiative come about?
- What challenges did you overcome?
- What impact did it have – on people, the planet, and your organisation?
Winners and runners-up will also be invited to share their work as case studies in future BASIS webinars, with featured content added to the BASIS website to inspire others across the sector.
Entries close on September 30th.
All applicants will be contacted by October 30th, and all those shortlisted will be invited to attend the ceremony.
The Categories
For individuals and organisations showing real leadership – embedding sustainability into strategy, governance, and day-to-day decisions. We’re looking for vision, commitment, and measurable results.
For standout campaigns, programmes or projects that have inspired positive environmental and/or social action – from education and fan engagement to behaviour change, awareness and media impact. Have you shifted perceptions? Mobilised people? Left a legacy? Tell us how.
Celebrating creative, game-changing innovations that have delivered sustainability outcomes – whether in operations, logistics, products, or processes. Think carbon tech, waste tools, travel platforms, material breakthroughs, or fan-facing tech.
Honouring partnerships that demonstrate shared purpose, real-world delivery, and measurable environmental and social outcomes. We’re looking for collaborations that go beyond the usual, and deliver more together.
Recognising sport-led projects that have made a tangible difference to the environmental fabric and consciousness of our communities — through local engagement, education, access, or regeneration.
Celebrating the organisation which has made the most impactful climate action effort to measure and reduce carbon emissions over the last year.
Spotlighting an emerging individual making waves in sustainable sport – through leadership, creativity or advocacy – opening up the next generation of sustainable sport leaders.
Celebrating work to protect and restore habitats, biodiversity and the natural environment in and / or around sports venues and facilities.
Submissions are accepted both for an organisation as a whole and for individuals within an organisation – with multiple submissions gladly received.
No initiative is too big or too small – what matters is the story behind it.
We’re especially keen to understand why your project was created, what impact it has made, and why it matters to your organisation.
We want to hear how it has helped reduce environmental impact and influenced behaviour – whether among staff, suppliers, fans, or the wider sporting community. If your entry reflects one or more of BASIS’ 12 Principles of Sustainable Sport, even better.
Whatever your starting point, your experience could help lead the way for others. So don’t hold back – share your story.
