Activity Alliance have developed this comprehensive guide offering practical and cost-effective solutions to create welcoming and accessible environments for everyone.Â
There are over 16 million disabled people in the UK (around a quarter of the population). However, many disabled people face significant barriers to accessing both indoor and outdoor spaces. These barriers can be societal, financial, psychological and physical. By removing these barriers, we can ensure that more people can enjoy the positive impact of being active.
Access for All is for everyone, whether you’re a physical activity provider, venue owner, coach, event organiser, volunteer, parent, carer or supporter. This guide will empower you to create easy, practical and cost-effective solutions to enhance accessibility to both indoor and outdoor spaces.
The resource is divided into sections. It can be downloaded and read as a full guide, or you may find it easier to just download and read the section most relevant to you. There is also a user journey map to support you with this resource.Â
Access for All was co-produced with Jean Hewitt, Technical Lead for Accessible and Inclusive Environments at Buro Happold.
