The EFL is the largest single body of professional Clubs in European football and is responsible for administering and regulating the EFL, the Carabao Cup and the Vertu Trophy, as well as reserve and youth football.
Since 2021, the EFL has run the EFL Green Clubs scheme in partnership with GreenCode. Clubs participating in this voluntary scheme are assessed bi-seasonally against GreenCode’s environmental standards and awarded one of four statuses: Participant, Bronze, Silver or Gold. Clubs awarded Gold status are also awarded the GreenCode Mark accreditation.Â
The EFL also works closely with its charitable arm, EFL in the Community, which supports a network of 72 Football Club charities to create creating healthier, stronger, more cohesive communities. Our latest impact research estimates that EFL Clubs and their Club charities generated £1bn of social value across their community initiatives in between 2022 – 2024.
