Sport England and BASIS Launch Major Sustainability Partnership

BASIS is delighted to confirm a new strategic partnership with Sport England to help embed environmental sustainability across the sport and physical activity sector.

Through this partnership, BASIS will provide free, tailored support to all Sport England system partners, helping them to build knowledge, confidence and capability to take credible action on sustainability.

This is a major milestone for BASIS and the sector. It reflects Sport England’s commitment to mainstreaming sustainability in sport through its Every Move strategy – and BASIS’ continued evolution.

What the partnership means

From September to December 2025, system partners will be able to access a first phase of support, focused on overcoming the most common barriers to progress. This includes:

• Getting Started – practical tools and guidance to understand impact and opportunities.

   

• Creating Your Plan – resources and examples to develop effective and achievable action plans.

   

• Developing Your Allies – insights on language, framing and co-benefits to build internal and external support.

Partners can now:

• Complete a short form to help shape the programme.

   

• Book 1:1 calls with the BASIS team for tailored advice.

   

• Sign up to online events including a three-part starter series covering emissions, action planning – with dedicated sessions on developing allies and effective narratives to be announced in the coming weeks.

   

From January 2026 onwards, the programme will expand and adapt, co-created with partners to reflect their needs, ambitions, and contexts.
