Press Release: BASIS Sustainable Sports Conference

Date: Thursday 19th November

Location: Lord’s Cricket Ground, London.

The British Association for Sustainable Sport is pleased to announce their 5th Annual Sustainable Sports Conference, this year to be held at the iconic Lord’s Cricket ground. The conference is aimed at sport and environmental professionals at all levels and will provide key learning areas for sports facilities from community to professional venues to reduce their environmental footprint. The conference will particularly focus on how sport in the UK can engage with the climate change discussion and the degradation of environments key to the delivery of sport in the UK.

Highlights include: An opening keynote address from Lord Deben (Chairman – Committee on Climate Change) on climate change in the UK and globally. Niall Dunne CSO for BT will open our afternoon sessions with the story of BT Sport’s Go 100 percent renewable campaign and how sport can do its bit to make a difference.

Additionally we will hear from sport specific examples of initiatives across the breadth of sport in the UK, for example:

Sustainability from a Sport and NGB perspective to include Forest Green Rovers, the RYA, the ECB and Sport England;

Solutions sessions from behaviour change at the Jockey Club to energy and waste management at key venues from around the UK.
